Every journey at Team Elwany starts here. Fundamentals is where you learn the positions, the escapes, and the handful of techniques that actually win — taught slowly and drilled until they’re yours. Every new student trains here first, and you stay until you’ve earned 2 stripes. Only then do the Intermediate and No-Gi classes open up. Women are welcome in Fundamentals too, right alongside our dedicated women’s class.
Every session runs the same shape: about fifteen minutes of warm-up, then short positional drills, then roughly thirty minutes of technique — shown, then drilled live. No experience is needed to walk in and train.
Ahmed Saradar teaches this class. He’s a blue belt who would rather you do five basics well than fifty fancy moves badly — old-school, proven technique, the kind that holds up against someone bigger and stronger. No flash, no shortcuts, nothing you’ll have to unlearn later.
And don’t mistake “fundamental” for “beginner-only.” Plenty of our advanced students come back to this class to sharpen the same basics, because in Jiu-Jitsu the basics never stop mattering. First week on the mat or fifth year in — this is where the real game is built.
