Rami Daood and Zain Daood, two standout athletes from Renzo Gracie Team Elwany, represented Iraq at the AJP Tour Africa Continental Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Cairo, Egypt. Returning to the international stage once again at the AJP Africa Continental Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025 in Cairo.
Rami Daood, competing in both Gi and No-Gi divisions in the Men’s White Belt / Amateur / 62kg category, once again showed his evolving game, adaptability, and commitment to growth. Securing a silver medal in Cairo adds to his string of achievements and reflects the high level of consistency he’s beginning to develop across international tournaments.
Zain Daood competed in the Youth White Belt / 81KG division, facing high-level international opponents. Although he didn’t advance past the first round, he showed resilience and composure — continuing to grow as a competitor in only his second tournament.
This journey reflects not just medals, but the continuous progress of our athletes and the rising standard of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Iraq.
We’re proud, we’re motivated, and we’re only getting started.
No Losers, Only Learners
Egypt wasn’t just a tournament—it was a statement.
Two brothers. One silver medal, one lesson learned. And a shared mindset:
You either win, or you learn.
In Jiu-Jitsu, stepping on the mat is already a victory. There is no failure in the pursuit of growth—only lessons that lead to stronger comebacks.
As Rami and Zain continue their journey, they’re not just collecting medals—they’re carrying a message: Iraqi athletes belong on the world stage. And this is only the beginning.
