Building Skills in Erbil – JJAU Development Seminar & Professor Seyed Amir’s Workshop

From July 25–28, Erbil hosted the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union (JJAU) Development Seminar, a program designed to strengthen the future of the sport in West Asia. The initiative focused on building knowledge, improving refereeing standards, and giving coaches the tools to guide the next generation of athletes with confidence.

Alongside the seminar, Professor Seyed Amir Khoshbin held a special one-day workshop that left a lasting impression on the team. His session focused on effective guard passing, technical takedowns, and the pressure game used in high-level competitions. Drawing from his experience as a competitor, coach, and referee, he shared practical lessons that athletes could immediately apply in both training and competition.

Together, these two events marked an important milestone for the BJJ community in Erbil, highlighting the city’s growing role in the sport’s development across West Asia.
