After more than a decade of dedication under Professor Rafael Costa at Renzo Gracie HQ – The Blue Basement in New York City, Al-Hakam has reached a major milestone in his Jiu-Jitsu journey.
This promotion reflects years of consistent training, competing, and mentoring — alongside legends like John Danaher, Garry Tonon, Gordon Ryan, and GSP. But more importantly, it marks a huge moment for the growth of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Iraq.
From launching the first Renzo Gracie Academy in Iraq to building a thriving BJJ community in Erbil, Coach Al-Hakam is a true pioneer and inspiration for the next generation of athletes in the region.
